Genevieve has a love for the outdoors...including bugs, lizards, snakes, etc. The other day she was chasing some poor lizard. She is quick and will usually get them. This time she did catch it, but it released its tail. She said: "Boy, he must really like me to give me his tail." How can you not LOVE that! She is just so sweet an innocent....love this girl! Here she is with her beloved tail.

Feeding the Ducks
I have really fond memories of my grandmother taking my brother and I to feed the ducks. I loved going as a child and thought that I would start this tradition with my children. I pictured this serene day at the park leisurely throwing bread to the calm, sweet ducks. Boy was I wrong! There were about 40 HUGE, HUNGRY ducks/geese that almost chased us down from the moment we pulled up!!! I only brought 4 slices of bread which were gone in about 2 seconds. The kids were screaming, the ducks were staring us down about 2 inches from our faces...so nice and relaxing!! You can see from below that once they figured out we didnt have any more bread, they did finally back off a bit! Also...the white one below was STARING Wyatt down....so funny!
Dinosaurs Alive!
We absolutely love the Heard Museum and have been members there for the last year. It is small, but they have awesome walking trails. Every Fall they bring in life-sized animatronic dinosaurs and Genevieve loves them!! Wyatt is still a little scared, but he does warm up to them by the end of the trail. I think that he would be fine,. but they move and make growling sounds! We went for opening day on Saturday and we had so much fun!
Oops!
So Genevieve comes out of the restroom and informs me that Wyatt is cutting his hair! hmmmm... So I ask her if she was the one who actually cut his hair. She admitted that "I cut some here, here, and a little off the sides. I asked her why she did and she said: " His hair was in his eyes." Well, now he has a huge gap above his eyes!!! My daughter is hilarious!

Genevieve's First Soccer Game
I am so proud of my little girl! I cannot believe that she is even old enough to play team sports...where has the time gone?!?! This weekend, she had her first soccer game. She is a Ladybug! She was absolutely adorable and really did an amazing job! SHe did not get her soccer skills from her mom- thank goodness! She actually went after the ball and didn't just pick flowers! I was truly impressed with her ability to just put herself out there and try....such a proud mommy moment!
Daddy's Boy????
So, my daughter, Genevieve, loves bugs, dinosaurs, the outdoors, etc. Wyatt, on the other hand, loves playing with Mommy's heels! It cracks me up!! He is just so proud of himself and you cannot help but smile. Doug is OK with it as long as he is trying to tackle something while he is wearing them! haha!
Look at my sweet boy!
Look at my sweet boy!
Sure, we can do that!
One thing that I am really enjoying is being able to do what Genevieve and Wyatt want any day of the week. The other day,Genevieve asked if we could paint. It was a Monday morning. Sure...why not?!?! When I was working full time, I was too tired from teaching all day or not wanting to mess up the house. I love that I am not frantically trying to get dinner ready, clean the house, etc. It is so nice to not have an agenda or a schedule each and every day. Don't get me wrong, we are pretty busy with gymnasics, dance, and soccer, but it is a different kind of busy. Here are a few pictures from a morning of painting.

Why blog??
So, this year is going to be different. I am going to be a "stay at home" mom. I really can hardly believe it! Teaching has always been my passion, and leaving (or "taking a break from it") was really one of the hardest decisions that I have made. What was the final thing that pushed me to do it?? It was when I went to Genevieve's "Mother's Day Tea" and she wrote "Mommy is best at work." That truly took a toll on me and I knew at that moment that me working full time was having an effect on my children.
Now, I have decided to share the moments of my new life, as a full time mommy, through this blog. So, this is my commitment... I will document my time with Genevieve and Wyatt: the simple, pure moments that I get to share with them everyday that I have never stopped to appreciate. I know that not everyday will be sunshine and roses, but I am confident that my worst day with them will be better than doing anything else. I know that at the end of this year, I will look back on my entries, pictures, and thoughts and know that nothing on this earth could compare to having this time with them. So please enjoy the pictures below...they all make me smile!
